♥ New Year, New Look ♥

Huh! What?

Oh yeah people. In an attempt to get out with the old and in with the new I'm reworking and revamping my Internet life.

I've been spending lots of time in the etsy forums reading about how different sellers promote their shops, and in my opinion a clean, fresh, new look is what it's about.

Therefore- I'm updating the look and feel of my blog and my etsy site. I've replaced my banner, I'm working on my pictures and photography and working on focusing my line of products. If you have an opinion (or would pretend to have one for a few moments) please fill out this questionnaire and post it in comments. -just a note- I'm allowing anonymous comments on this blog just for this purpose. Please be honest and constructive. A bunch of 'oh it's great!' is not helpful.

1. How did you hear about http://www.etsy.com/ ?

Hi Katie : )

1. Through blogs about 1 1/2 years ago.
2. A few times a month.
3. Your prices seem reasonable to me, although you may be doing yourself a disservice by not charging shipping. People expect to have to pay shipping and you should be paid in full for your work : )
4. Admittedly, it is fun to not pay shipping occasionally. But that is not enough to keep me going back to a shop. I'll gladly pay shipping for a good product.
5. Doesn't matter. If I like someone's style I will buy various items from them.
6. Your critters would make good catnip toys for cats (minus any bits that could get eaten).
7. The photos are good. I think you should show the items "in action". Pincushions with pins in them and/or used as paperweights on a stack of papers... etc.
8. Very nice - maybe could use some color at the top.
9. Etsy forum thread on blog updates.
10. Wishing you a wonderful New Year - hope your Etsy shop does really well : )

Cheers!

1. How did you hear about http://www.etsy.com/ ?
Word of mouth (you told me about it.)

2. How often do you buy things online?
More and more each year. I'd say once every two weeks.

3. Do you think http://www.catherinette.etsy.com/ prices are too high, too low, or just right?

I think for the quality and design the prices are right on. I've never shopped for a pincushion because I don't sew and if I do I just roll up a sock and put some pins in that.

If I were getting one for a gift for a sewy friend I would not think it was too much at all.

4. Do you perceive free shipping to be a great value, a good value, a fair value, or of no value?

I don't think of anything as being free. I always assume it is built into the price. I think I get more excited when I see honest, uninflated shipping and handling prices over free. (If I pay $6.00 for shipping and the envelope gets there and it says $1.95 I'm mad. if I pay $6.00 and the stamp says 6.00 I am pleased.)

5. Would you rather visit multiple etsy shops or just one with several different items?

I'm a one stop shop kind of guy. Can you break it into catagories?

6. What other products would you like to see http://www.catherinette.etsy.com/ sell?

Sleek oversized black fedoras, Tunics, long flowing vader capes.

Actually, I like cute things that are mean spirited, like a little baby seal with velcro on it's head so you can split his head open and see his brains. I already told you voodoo dolls are cool. You could make the face a little picture holder so you could cut out someones head and put it in there.

OH! A cute Pinhead pincushion. Make him look like a white charlie Brown. Just add needles and voila! You've got a cute and useful Hellraiser Cenobite sewing buddy!

7. Overall how do you feel about the photos and listing descriptions on http://www.catherinette.etsy.com/?

They are clear, bright photos. Well done. I am afraid to buy on the internet. I do paypal and E-bay because I feel they will keep me from being ripped off or having things arrive late. I think it would be good to give an idea of turnaround time.

8. Overall what do you think of the look of this blog?

It's good. It's clean and easy to look at. No fuss.

9. How did you find about this blog? Myspace memo

10. Any additional comments?
I think it's good. I like that the tone of the description is light and fun, however, I would like to see one or two solid lines about the professionalism of the person making them. Your credentials. This tells me the item won't be flawed or fall apart and that they take making and sending these seriously.
